The Savoy was the first purpose-built deluxe hotel in Britain, when it opened in 1889, offering the comfort, luxury and service that Americans visiting London were familiar with back home. Richard D’Oyly Carte, the theatrical impresario who had built The Savoy, stayed in some of the new American hotels as he toured his Opera Company in the United States through the late 1870s and early 1880s, and he saw how these hotels were quick to adopt new technologies. How novel these technologies would surely be in the London hotel market.
The Savoy is located on the Strand, a short walk from the bustling cobbled streets of Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and overlooking the Thames. For theatre lovers, we are in the heart of the West End with a vibrant mix of shows within walking distance.
The current Managing Director of The Savoy is Franck X. Arnold. He is also the Regional Vice-President for Fairmont's UK & Ireland Hotels and Resorts.
Check-in time is guaranteed from 3.00pm and Check-out time is at 12.00 noon.
Should you arrive in advance of check in time and your room be in the final stages of preparation, the team would be delighted to store your luggage and extend the full guest facilities for your usage until such time your room becomes ready.

Approximately 20 miles west of The Savoy, London Heathrow Airport is under 50 minutes by car, 1 hour 15 minutes by London Underground, or 15 minutes by Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and then a further 30 minutes by car.
Approximately 35 miles south of The Savoy, London Gatwick Airport is under 1 hour 40 minutes by car, or 30 minutes by Gatwick Express to Victoria station and then a further 15 minutes by London Underground.
Approximately 8 miles east of The Savoy, London City Airport is under 45 minutes by car, or under 40 minutes by London Underground and DLR services.
The Savoy Doormen Team are proud to provide valet parking. No advance booking necessary and pricing starts at £22.50 for 2 hours. We also offer luxury travel arrangements to ensure a seamless journey. With our fleet of luxury cars, including our Rolls-Royce, travel in style with our private chauffeur service. Our Concierge team are also on hand to arrange airport transfers, taxis, and private hire cars. For transport inquiries or to make a reservation, contact our concierge team.
Charing Cross station, served by the Bakerloo and Northern lines, is just a 4-minute walk from The Savoy. Embankment station, served by the Bakerloo, Northern, Circle and District lines; and Covent Garden station, served by the Piccadilly line, are both a 6-minute walk from the hotel.
Dogs less than 25lbs / 11kg are permitted to stay in the hotel and there is a charge of £25 per day per pet. Pets will receive room amenities and are not to be left unattended in our guest rooms. Registered Service Animals are always welcome and are exempt from the charge. Please note pets are not allowed in any of the hotel bars or restaurants with exception to Registered Service Animals.
No cancellation charge applies prior to 14:00 (local time), up to 1 day prior to arrival. Beyond that time, the first night will be charged.
The Concierge desk is located in the Front Hall and is open from 8.00am to 10.00pm daily. They may assist with restaurant reservations, city and tour information, theatre tickets, return flight confirmation, sports and entertainment tickets as well as other requests you may have. Airport transfers to be requested via email at: svy.concierge@fairmont.com. Assistance is also available 24 hours/day at the Reception Desk.
All guests can enjoy complimentary soft drinks and snacks with the option to pay for additional items. Nespresso coffee machines and coffee pods are available for you. Guests can order newspapers and magazines to be delivered to their door.
Our housekeeping team will service the room daily and also provide an evening turndown service.
And all rooms and suites include US and UK compatible modems for charging your devices.
The hotel is proud to offer same-day dry-cleaning and laundry services to our residents. Shoeshine service and pressing services are also available.

There are six fully accessible rooms available at The Savoy. Please contact us in advance of your arrival should you require assistance with mobility or require wheelchair assistance.
Within The Savoy’s famous entrance are some of the top London restaurants. From classic dishes with a twist and traditional Afternoon Tea in Gallery, to the best of British in Savoy Grill, fresh seafood dishes from the River Restaurant and Michelin-starred courses in Restaurant 1890, guests have the most outstanding selection of dining options.
Our Afternoon Tea starts from £90 per person.
Our Afternoon Tea is very popular, so we recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

There is no minimum age limit. We have a specific menu available so children can also enjoy our Afternoon Tea offering.
All our Afternoon Teas contain a selection of traditional sandwiches and savoury bites, handmade pastries and signature cakes, and of course our famous scones. During High Tea, guests can enjoy an additional hot seasonal savoury dish such as a Hand Dived Orkney Scallop or Pearl Barley Risotto.
Yes guests with a valid Afternoon Tea voucher are able to use this to pay for their Afternoon Tea. Please notify our team when you arrive for your booking and they will be happy to assist you.
Gerald Quadros heads up The Savoy’s talented team of chefs who oversee Gallery, American Bar, Beaufort Bar, Events, Banqueting, and In-Room-Dining. The Savoy Grill, Restaurant 1890 and The River Restaurant are overseen by the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Group.
Simpson's will be re-opening in February 2026. The restaurant will be overseen by Jeremy King Restaurants.
Guests can enjoy breakfast in Gallery. If guests have a breakfast package included with their stay, this package is worth up to a value of £45. The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay is also available for breakfast.
All our restaurants can accommodate for dietary requirements, please let your server know and they will be happy to advise.
The Savoy is home to the longest surviving cocktail bar in London, the American Bar and the glamorous jet-black Beaufort Bar. We also invite guests to enjoy the bar in Gallery.
Our bars are very popular, so we recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
Children aged 14 and above may visit the American Bar with adults and in-house guests may bring children of any age. The Beaufort Bar only accepts guests that are 18 and above.
