Theatreland Returns

30-09-2020 / Only in London

“Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention. Please return to your seats, the Second Act is about to begin”

After an extended intermission, our beloved theatres and their shows are starting to return. Following government advice, most theatres have been closed since 16 March.

We at The Savoy are thrilled that after much anticipation, our world-famous London theatres are welcoming back their audiences, having taken all appropriate measures to ensure a safe experience. Outdoor performances began again in August and following the government’s announcement that indoor performances can take place with social distancing, the lights are dimming and the curtains are rising again in theatreland.

London’s Evening Standard reported, ‘Nimax, which owns the Apollo, Duchess, Garrick, Lyric, Palace and Vaudeville theatres, is planning to welcome back audiences with a combination of previously running shows and new productions from October:

  • This Is Going To Hurt, with Adam Kay (Apollo Theatre), October 22-November 8
  • Six the Musical (Lyric Theatre), from November 14
  • Jimmy Carr (Palace Theatre), November 16-21
  • Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (Apollo Theatre), from November 12
  • The Play That Goes Wrong (Duchess Theatre), from November 19′

In addition to the Nimax theatres, Official London Theatre announced further productions reopening with socially distanced audiences include Alan Bennett’s ‘Talking Head’ monologues at the Bridge Theatre and ‘The Death Of England’ sequel playing at the National Theatre in late October.
